About Athena Film Foundation


Athena Film Foundation helps non-profit organizations communicate their message by providing high quality, affordable videos for fundraising, promotional, and educational purposes. It also provides consultative services to help non-profits make maximum use of their videos through web streaming, event screenings, and other delivery methods.



Dolly Carlisle

Executive Director

Dolly Carlisle is an award winning documentary writer/producer, magazine correspondent and author. Prior to becoming executive director of Athena Film Foundation, she was executive editor for the social networking website, ReZoom.com. Targeting boomers, the on-line site provided articles, videos and information covering a broad range of topics including health, travel, entertainment, finance, and philanthropy. She has directed, written or produced over 60 hours of biographical documentaries that aired on CMT, TNN or the USA Network. As a division director for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, she oversaw the creation and production of a dramatic television pilot, Gravy, as a unique marketing and branding vehicle for the corporation.

Prior to her television and video work, Ms. Carlisle was a national correspondent for People Magazine and wrote a biography on the country music artist George Jones. Ms. Carlisle has taught documentary making at Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, Tennessee. She received the Country Music Association’s Media Achievement Award for her print work and recognition from the University Film and Video Association for an independent documentary project.



David B. Hinton, Ph.D.

Director of Development

David B. Hinton, Ph.D. is an internationally recognized film historian. He has published two books on film history and one book on economic development. Dr. Hinton has previously served as Vice President of O’More College of Design, Vice President of Academic Affairs for Watkins College of Art and Design, and Dean of Academic Affairs for The Art Institute of Tennessee-Nashville. Dr. Hinton was also an Instructor in film history and contemporary global cinema for nine years at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Hinton holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Drake University, an M.A. in Film from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Hinton also studied at Schiller College, Heidelberg, Germany and the University of Frankfurt, Germany.



Larry Boothby C.D.P.

Director of Photography/Cinematographer

Director of Photography/Cinematographer: Larry Boothby C.D.P. has 25 years of production experience. He has shot theatrically released projects and programming for networks including HBO, Cinemax, NBC, CBS, PBS and MTV. Projects requiring his skills have taken him around the world to locations in Italy, Austria, England, Ireland, Taiwan, Mexico and Canada.

Whether the project is a feature film, prime-time network television, commercials or music video, he is committed to the philosophy of providing excellence and innovation to his directors and clients. His award winning performances are the result of meticulous planning, attention to detail and singular vision which ensure the creative, technical and visual excellence you’ve come to expect.
